Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).
  • Carefully remove the top layer of rind from the wheel of brie cheese.
  • Place the brie on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Making the Blackberry Sauce

  • On medium-high heat, mash the blackberries gently with a fork while cooking.
  • Let cook for about 10 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  • Remove from heat and steep the basil leaves in the sauce for about 10 minutes.
  • Remove the basil leaves after steeping.

Toasting the Pecans

  • In a skillet over low to medium heat, toast the chopped pecans until fragrant.
  • Sprinkle in a little sugar and add the butter, stirring until the nuts are caramelized.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 5 to 7 minutes until the brie is melty.

Notes

Avoid overcooking the blackberry sauce to prevent a burnt taste. Use ripe blackberries and soften brie before baking for the best results. Experiment with different nuts or fruit for variations.
