  • 1 lb ground beef Rich and juicy base.
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced thinly Provides tender layers.
  • 1 cup onion, chopped Adds flavor.
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese For creaminess and flavor.
  • 1 can creamy mushroom soup Binds flavors together.
  • 1 cup milk Enhances creaminess.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder Adds subtle flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Essential for seasoning.
  • fresh green onions for garnish Optional for color and flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with the chopped onions until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the creamy mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the cooked beef and onion mixture, then half of the cheddar cheese.
  • Repeat the layers again.
  • Pour the mushroom soup mixture over the layered casserole.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze individual portions for up to three months. To reheat, cover in the oven or microwave.
