Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, panko breadcrumbs, egg, steak sauce, ketchup, Dijon mustard, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until everything is evenly incorporated.
  • Shape the mixture into 16 to 20 uniform meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake the meatballs for 16 to 20 minutes or until their internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Cooking the Gravy

  • While the meatballs bake, melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until softened, about 3 to 5 minutes. Remove the mushrooms and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour until smooth, then gradually add the beef broth, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and thicken for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Return the cooked mushrooms to the skillet and add the baked meatballs to the gravy. Cook briefly to heat them through.

Serving

  • Serve the meatballs drizzled with the mushroom gravy and garnish with chopped fresh parsley.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider sautéing minced garlic and finely chopped onions before adding the mushrooms. For a creamier gravy, stir in a splash of heavy cream. You can also experiment with herbs such as fresh thyme or rosemary.
