Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, combine the ground beef, panko bread crumbs, chopped parsley, allspice, nutmeg, finely chopped onion, garlic powder, pepper, salt, and egg. Mix everything thoroughly until well blended.
  • Roll the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.

Cooking the Meatballs

  • Heat the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Once hot, add the meatballs to the skillet. Cook until they are browned and cooked through, approximately 8-10 minutes.
  • Keep the meatballs warm in a separate dish while you prepare the sauce.

Making the Sauce

  • In the same skillet, melt the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
  • Stir in the flour and whisk together until it forms a golden-brown paste.
  • Gradually pour in the beef broth and heavy cream, continuing to whisk until the mixture is smooth and thickened.
  • Add the Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard, stirring to combine, and season with additional salt and pepper to taste.

Finishing Touches

  • Return the meatballs to the skillet and simmer them in the creamy sauce for 1-2 minutes to absorb flavors.
  • Serve over steaming egg noodles, fluffy rice, or with mashed potatoes.

Notes

Consider substituting ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option. Adjust seasonings according to personal taste. Letting the sauce thicken ensures better coating on the meatballs.
