Ingredients

Cheese Bites

  • 8 oz cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or other creamy variety) Choose your favorite melting cheese.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour For the coating.
  • 2 large eggs Whisked for breading.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko recommended) Provides extra crunch.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder Adds flavor.
  • 1 tsp onion powder Adds flavor.
  • to taste salt and pepper For seasoning.
  • Oil for frying vegetable or canola oil For frying.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Freeze the cheese cubes for about 30 minutes to help retain their shape during frying.
  • Set up a breading station with flour in the first bowl, beaten eggs in the second, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in the third.

Breading and Frying

  • Roll each cheese cube in the flour, dip it in the eggs, and then coat it with the breadcrumb mixture.
  • Heat 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry the cheese bites in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown, flipping as needed.
  • Drain on paper towels and serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Ensure the oil is at the proper temperature before frying to avoid sogginess or burning. You can also prep these bites ahead of time and freeze them until ready to cook.
