Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking pan.
  • Bring water to a boil.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well mixed.
  • Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth, ensuring no lumps remain.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

Fudge Layer

  • In a separate bowl, combine the remaining 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, light brown sugar, and 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder. Sprinkle this mixture over the batter.
  • Carefully pour boiling water over the top of the batter without stirring.

Baking
