Ingredients

For the Marinade

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper to taste

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank or skirt steak, thinly sliced for tender bites
  • 2 cups cooked white rice fluffy
  • 0.5 cup sliced cucumber fresh topping
  • 0.5 cup sliced avocado creamy balance
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang for spiciness
  • 0.25 cup chopped green onions for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, minced garlic, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Whisk together until well-combined.
  • Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Cover the bowl and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, preferably up to 4 hours or overnight.

Cooking

  • Cook the rice according to package instructions and let it sit covered.
  • Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned.

Assembly

  • In a bowl, place a scoop of cooked rice, then layer with grilled beef, fresh cucumber, and avocado slices.
  • Drizzle gochujang over the top, and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve immediately.

Notes

Slice the beef against the grain for the best texture. Consider adding or substituting vegetables like bell peppers or shredded carrots.
