Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat together the granulated sugar and vegetable oil until well combined.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.
  • Alternately add the dry ingredients and buttermilk, starting and ending with dry ingredients.
  • Add the green food coloring and fold it into the batter until fully incorporated.

Baking

  • Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Frosting

  • Beat together the cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until fluffy, then stir in additional vanilla and salt.

Notes
