  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Infuses delightful nuttiness.
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder Offers a hint of aromatic garlic flavor.

For the Beef

  • 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce Sweet and savory glaze for the beef.
  • 1/4 cup honey Adds a touch of natural sweetness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger Bright and zesty flavor enhancer.

For Assembly

  • 1 avocado, sliced Creamy and nutrient-rich.

Instructions

Cooking the Rice

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the rice, chicken broth, soy sauce, sesame oil, and garlic powder. Bring to a rolling boil.
  • Once boiling, reduce the heat, cover the pan, and let it simmer for 18-20 minutes until the rice is cooked and has absorbed all the liquid. Fluff with a fork.

Cooking the Beef

  • While the rice cooks, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a splash of oil.
  • Once hot, add the thinly sliced sirloin steak. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally until browned.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the teriyaki sauce, honey, and grated ginger. Pour over the cooked beef, stir well, and let simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes until thickened.

Assembling the Stack

  • Layer a portion of the fluffy rice on a plate.
  • Top with a serving of teriyaki beef and finish with slices of creamy avocado.
  • Repeat layers for each serving. Optionally, garnish with additional teriyaki sauce or sesame seeds.

Notes

For best results, slice steak against the grain for tenderness and rinse rice for fluffiness. Watch the beef while cooking to prevent overcooking.
