Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  • If desired, gently stir in a few drops of red food coloring until the desired hue is achieved.
  • Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least one hour.

Churning

  • Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions, typically for 20-25 minutes.
  • During the last 5 minutes of churning, add the white chocolate chips or chunks.

Freezing

  • Transfer the churned ice cream into an airtight container and freeze for several hours, or until firm.
